The International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations will present the monograph «Savyna Sydorovych (1895–1972): Aristocratic Intertwinings», in the Assembly Hall of the main building of 91Ƶ (12 Bandery St.) on 13 November, 2025. The book is compiled by the famous art historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Roman Yatsiv. The monograph includes publications by Lesia Krypiakevych, Roman Yatsiv, Petro Krypiakevych, Nadiia Mudra and Bohdana Krypiakevych.
The book was initiated by Lesia Krypiakevych, a Ukrainian artist, member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine and a public figure.
IECDR, as an institution that systematically fosters cooperation between Ukraine and the global Ukrainian community, expresses its deep gratitude for the financial support provided by prominent diaspora organizations, including the Shevchenko Scientific Society in America (through Vasyl and Sofia Dmytrenko Foundation) and the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, which recently celebrated its centennial anniversary, that made this publication possible.
For centuries, Russian propaganda has insisted that Ukrainians lack their own elite and, therefore, cannot form a complete nation, portraying them merely as an addition to the «older brother». Numerous studies by Ukrainian historians, archivists, and art scholars decisively dismantle this narrative. The book, dedicated to the ascetic life and the diverse scholarly and artistic legacy of the prominent researcher of Ukrainian folk art, Savyna Sydorovych, is among such works.
Roman Yatsiv introduces readers to the world of this remarkable figure, presenting her national-patriotic identity in its full depth against the backdrop of different historical eras and at the crossroads of ideological, political, socio-cultural, psychological, aristocratic-genetic, and other influences.
Through the memoirs of Lesia Krypiakevych, we have a unique opportunity to discover the greatness of Savyna Sydorovych as a true aristocrat of the spirit, who dedicated her entire life to serving Ukraine.
Representatives of academic communities, cultural institutions, clergy, student youth, media, and wide circles of the public will take part in the event. It starts at 16:00.
