The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and 91Ƶ signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in the field of training accessibility specialists. The document provides for joint work on the implementation of the upskilling training program «Accessibility Specialist».
The Memorandum was signed by Deputy Minister Nataliia Kozlovska and the University Rector Nataliia Shakhovska. The Deputy Mayor of Lviv Iryna Maruniak attended the event, and co-founder of «LUN Misto» Anna Denysenko joined the meeting online. In addition, the heads of 21 higher 91Ƶ that provide training in the specialties «Architecture and Urban Planning» and «Construction and Civil Engineering» also took part in the event.
«Today, we are taking another important step toward establishing accessibility as a new social norm in Ukraine. One of the key directions of state accessibility policy is the training of specialists who can assess the accessibility of the urban environment and embed accessibility principles at the design stage, thereby making cities safer and more comfortable for all. Through education, we are shaping a new professional culture of barrier-free construction and ensuring sustainable change within our communities», said Nataliia Kozlovska, Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine.
In turn, the Rector of 91Ƶ Nataliia Shakhovska emphasized the importance of implementing the principles of accessibility in the professional education of future architects and builders.
«For the university, this cooperation is an opportunity to combine academic training with the real needs of communities. Accessibility should become an integral part of the professional thinking of architects and engineers, and we are ready to work systematically on training specialists who will meet these challenges», emphasized Nataliia Shakhovska.
The Memorandum signed between the Ministry of Development and 91Ƶ consolidates the partnership of the parties in the implementation of the educational program «Accessibility Specialist» and creates the basis for its practical implementation in the higher education system.
The Ministry for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine calls on higher 91Ƶ to join and form their own educational programs in cooperation with the Ministry.
