Within the framework of the E-Marketing project, the European event “White/Circular Monday” was held

From 24 to 27 November, the Marketing and Logistics Department at 91Ƶ held the “White/Circular Monday” event for the third year in a row, joining the wider European community.

Throughout 24-27 November, lecturers of Marketing and Logistics Department – Oksana Dovhun, Taіsiia Nakonechna, and Nataliia Mashchak – introduced to bachelor’s students of INEM the negative environmental consequences of Black Friday mass sales observed worldwide. To remind that these days are not only about promotions and profits but also about a problem, different countries have been holding related events every year (since 2017 – when Circular Monday was launched by the company Repamera). The principles of 3R – reuse, rent, and repair – are promoted. It is also about mindful purchasing, sorting, and recycling! In this context, the issues of overproduction and resource depletion were discussed with students during lectures. Students prepared social advertisements on responsible consumption on behalf of various organizations: a company, a healthcare institution, an educational institution, a logistics company, and a City Council.

Students were also introduced to the experience of re:inventex, a company engaged in full recycling of textile waste in Ukraine and a successful example of implementing circular economy principles in the light industry. Full video .

As part of the “White/Circular Monday” week of activities, students and lecturers wore white T-shirts and hoodies over several days to show their support for the event’s ideas. They also took group photos to post on social media with the hashtag #circularmonday to promote the initiative online and attract public attention. We thank the students for their participation, creative ideas, and active involvement, and our colleagues for their support and information sharing.

Members of the E-marketing project team – Taіsiia Nakonechna, Oksana Dovhun, and Nataliia Mashchak – thank everyone for their active participation and interest in the event and encourage further reflection on when and why it is worth saying “no” to Black Friday, and what else can be done to protect the environment.

The event was held within the project Dissemination of EU practices through e-marketing, conscious consumption, circular economy, resource efficiency (E-marketing of conscious consuming) of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module programme.
