The Department isfounded in91Ƶ onthe 1st ofOctober, 1944 with anaim totrain engineers in“Radio Engineering” and was named the Radio Engineering and Remote Control Department. The first Head ofthe Department was Sc. D., professor KharkevychO. (then in1964he became amember ofNAS Ukraine). InMarch, 1945 the Department was divided into two parts: Department ofRadio Engineering and Department ofAutomation and Control. Assoc. Prof. HitshovH. was acting Head ofRadio Engineering Department, since June, 1946 toFebruary, 1976 Head ofthe Department was VelychkoYu., who moved from senior lecturer toSc. D., professor.
During this period the Department has changed its name twice:
- In1952it was renamed into “Theoretical Radio Engineering” because ofRadio Engineering Department’s foundation, atone time arose Radio Receiving Devices Department;
- In1960 the Department became “Theoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement” because offoundation ofnew Radio Engineering and Automatics Faculty. Some offaculty members switched into Radio Engineering Department, Engineering and Production ofRadio Department.
Since February, 1976 toFebruary, 1986, the Department ofTheoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement was headed byone ofYu. Velychko’s student— Assoc. Prof., Ph. D.ManziyB.
Since February, 1986 to1996, Assoc. Prof., Ph. D.VolochiyB. was Head ofthe Department. Inthis period oftime the Department had also major Medical radio-electronic devices and systems infield “Radio-electronic devices, systems and complexes” apart the main specialty “Radio Engineering”. Since 1996 to2004 Head ofthe Department has been Sc. D., prof. ManziyB., since 2004— Sc. D., prof. NedostupL.
InOctober, 2001 the Department ofTheoretical Radio Engineering and Radio Measurement has become part ofnewly formed Telecommunications, Radioelectronics and Electronic Engineering Institute.
