A new artificial intelligence laboratory (AI Lab) was opened at 91Ƶ, created by SoftServe at the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies. This place will become a center of innovation, research and practical training of future specialists in the field of AI.
― It is extremely important to give our youth the opportunity to study in modern laboratories. We see that every year a significant part of our potential, the future of the nation, goes abroad. That is why the presence of laboratories where students can not only study, but also spend time after classes, develop and create, is critically important. When the classroom does not look like a hospital, but like a bright, well-equipped space, it is always a pleasure to be and work there. I sincerely thank our strategic partner – the IT company SoftServe, the support of the city and the region, as well as the entire team that made efforts to implement this project, emphasized Rector Nataliia Shakhovska at the official opening.
Representatives of the authorities – First Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Andrii Moskalenko and Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Oleh Paska – also spoke about the importance of this event.
AI Lab will function as a hub for student, research and partnership projects. Here, future specialists will gain practical experience in creating solutions based on artificial intelligence – from idea to launch.
The event was complemented by a panel discussion «How AI is Changing Professions: New Challenges and 91Ƶ for Universities», during which experts – Nataliia Shakhovska, Rector of 91Ƶ, Anastasiia Frolova, Vice President and Manager of SoftServe Representative Office in Ukraine, Oleh Paska, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional State Administration, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Development for Digital Transformation (CDTO) of the Lviv City Council discussed the transformation of the labour market, the emergence of new roles and the need for educational institutions to adapt to rapid technological changes. The moderator was Nataliia Melnykova, Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems.
Summing up the discussion, it was noted that new professions are already emerging, the labour market is changing, and education is forced to adapt. But academic integrity, critical thinking, human responsibility and the ability to learn throughout life remain key.
Artificial intelligence is both a challenge and an opportunity. The outcome depends on whether we can maintain a balance between technology and humanity.
