An important event of the working trip of Lviv Polytechnic representatives to the Federal Republic of Germany, which continues this week, was a meeting at the Ministry of the Interior of Saxony (FRG), which took place with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian and German sides.
On the Ukrainian side, the event was attended by Nataliia Shakhovska, Rector of 91Ƶ; Liubomyr Pylypenko, Director of the Institute of Public Administration, Governance and Professional Development; and Mykola Bunyk, Head of the Department of Public Governance.
The German side was represented by Armin Schuster, Minister of the Interior of Saxony; Professor Frank Nolden, President of Meissen University of Applied Sciences; Chancellor Frank Degenkolbe; and Vice-President Samia Härtling.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the reconstruction of Ukraine, emphasizing the crucial role of universities in this process. It was noted that higher 91Ƶ should take the lead in training professionals for Ukraine’s post-war recovery, reforming public administration, and advancing the country’s integration into the European community.
Particular attention was given to strengthening cooperation between Lviv Polytechnic and Meissen University of Applied Sciences. The discussion focused on exchanging experience in training specialists for public authorities, promoting academic mobility, and organizing international summer schools and conferences on public governance.
Armin Schuster, Minister of the Interior of Saxony, expressed his full support for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and admiration for the courage of the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who continue to heroically resist Russian aggression. He emphasized that Saxony and German educational institutions stand ready to assist their Ukrainian counterparts in developing a modern system of public administration and training new generations of civil servants.
In turn, Nataliia Shakhovska, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, expressed her gratitude for supporting Ukraine and invited Minister Armin Schuster to visit Lviv and Lviv Polytechnic. She noted that personal meetings and joint initiatives between Ukrainian and German universities form the foundation of long-term cooperation and play a crucial role in strengthening the European partnership.
In the preceding days, Lviv Polytechnic representatives visited the Meissen University of Applied Sciences and the Center for Advanced Training. During a meeting with President Frank Nolden, Chancellor Frank Degenkolbe, and Vice-President Samia Härtling, they had the opportunity to learn about the training of specialists for government institutions at all levels in the Federal Republic of Germany, the system of advanced training for civil servants, and the organization of distance learning in the field of public administration.
The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation, including the organization of an international summer school in Meissen for students majoring in Public Management and Administration, the preparation of joint project proposals for educational and research initiatives, and the launch of a conference bringing together German and Ukrainian higher 91Ƶ in the field of public governance.
