Major events of the Norwegian-Ukrainian cooperation

2016

March 2016— Dr. Tetyana V. Shapovalova, Associate Professor ofthe Department ofSociology and Social Work, Institute ofHumanities and Social Sciences, 91Ƶ, was elected Member ofthe Board ofInternational Fund for Social Adaptation.

2017

March— April 2017— Working meetings with the participants ofthe “Ukraine— Norway” project were organized inthe cities ofLviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Vynnytsia, and Chernivtsi.

May 2017— The contact group meeting took place onfurther development ofthe “Ukraine-Norway” project with the participation ofthe Ambassador ofthe Kingdom ofNorway toUkraine, the NORD University Professors, representatives ofthe Ministries and Departments ofNorway and Ukraine, and representatives of91Ƶ, Lviv.

May 2017— The Third International Symposium “Norwegian-Ukrainian cooperation: Education, research and business” was held inthe city ofLviv.

December21, 2017— The Round Table “The «Ukraine-Norway» Project: The way tosuccess” was held at91Ƶ with the involvement ofthe already retrained Project participants and Dr. Maureen Flaherty, Canadian professional inthe area ofpeace and conflict resolution (University ofManitoba, Winnipeg, Canada).

2018

Inthe spring semester 2017-2018, at91Ƶ two academic groups were retrained:

February20, 2018— May24, 2018— 42persons were retrained within the “English Language and Digital Communication” Retraining Program atthe Institute ofAdministration and Postgraduate Education (Lviv);
February21, 2018— May25, 2018— 33persons were retrained within the “Management ofSmall and Medium Business” Retraining Program atthe Training and Consulting Centre ofLviv Polytechnic (Volodymyr-Volynskyi).
Inthe spring semester 2017-2018, Dr. Lana Berglund from the Norwegian side took part inteaching the “Business Administration” discipline for the trainees inLviv (March 19-21), and inVolodymyr-Volynskyi (March 22-23).

Inthe fall semester 2017-2018, during the period ofSeptember 20-December 20, 2017, one academic group of33persons was retrained. Inthe implementation ofthe “Ukraine-Norway” Project atLviv Polytechnic, Department ofSociology and Social Work, International “INTEGRATION” Centre for Professional Partnerships ofthe Institute ofthe Humanities and Social Sciences, and Department ofAutomated Control Systems, Department ofArtificial Intelligence Systems, Department ofComputer-Aided Design ofthe Institute ofComputer Science and Information Technologies were involved.

September25, 2018— The Ukrainian-American Round Table “Onthe establishment ofVeteran Services for combatants and their family members based onLviv Polytechnic” was held atLviv Polytechnic with the involvement ofthe representatives ofFrederick Community College (Maryland, USA): Prof. Marshall Botkin and Ms. Rachel Nachlas, Head, Veteran Services.

September 27-28, 2018— The representatives ofLviv Polytechnic Dr. Roman Korzh, Dr. Tetiana Shapovalova, Dr. Uliana Marikutsa, and Ms. Mariana Hasiak participated inthe International conference “The Knowledge for the Development ofSociety and Business. The Norway-Ukraine Cooperation”, devoted tothe 15th anniversary ofthe “Ukraine-Norway” Project. Dr. Tetiana Shapovalova was awarded the Certificate ofHonor ofthe Ministry ofSocial Policy ofUkraine for her outstanding personal contribution tothe implementation ofthe rights ofservicepersons and their families, and their social, legal and professional adaptation tothe conditions ofthe life incivil society, asguaranteed bythe legislation ofUkraine.

November 22-23, 2018— Dr. Olga Yermolenko from the Norwegian side made aworking visit to91Ƶ and delivered lectures and trainings within the “Business Administration” discipline. The Project participants had anopportunity tolearn about the Norwegian experience ofapplying innovative approaches todoing business.

November23, 2018— Within the framework ofher visit toLviv Polytechnic, Dr. Olga Yermolenko had ameeting with Dr. Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Research, Education and Social Development, and Dr. Nina Hayduk, Director ofInternational “INTEGRATION” Centre for Professional Partnerships. During the meeting, the areas ofthe partnership cooperation between 91Ƶ and University ofNord (Kingdom ofNorway), and the prospects for further cooperation with Norwegian partners were discussed.

December 4-5, 2018— Mr. Patrick Hagan visited 91Ƶ with the purpose ofmonitoring the evaluation ofthe quality ofthe “Ukraine-Norway” Project implementation atLviv Polytechnic.

December13, 2018— Mr. Boye Garder Lillerud, Military Attaché ofthe Kingdom ofNorway inUkraine, visited Lviv Polytechnic and took part inthe ceremony ofthe academic group graduation under the “Ukraine-Norway” Project. The meetings with representatives ofthe University administration were also held.

2019

January22, 2019— The presentation “Onthe development ofasystem ofinclusive service delivery atLviv Polytechnic” was made byDr. Roman Korzh and Dr. Nina Hayduk atthe Scientific Council of91Ƶ. The rational for the development ofVeteran Services for Combatants, Their Families, &IDPs was justified, and the Agreement was adopted, which indicated the need toestablish Veteran Services within the structure ofInternational “INTEGRATION” Centre for Professional Partnerships atLviv Polytechnic.

Inthe spring semester 2018-2019, during the period ofFebruary27, 2019— May29, 2019, one academic group of33persons ofthe “Software Quality Control” specialty was retrained under the “Ukraine-Norway” Project atLviv Polytechnic. Inthe implementation ofthe Project, International “INTEGRATION” Centre for Professional Partnerships and Department ofSociology and Social Work ofthe Institute ofthe Humanities and Social Sciences, Department ofAutomated Control Systems, Department ofArtificial Intelligence Systems and Department ofComputer-Aided Design ofthe Institute ofComputer Science and Information Technologies, and the Institute ofAdministration and Postgraduate Education were involved.

April 17-18, 2019— Ms. Siliie Aacre made aworking visit toLviv Polytechnic and delivered lectures and trainings within the “Cybersecurity” discipline. The Project participants had anopportunity tolearn about the advanced foreign experience inthe field ofcybersecurity from the Norwegian practitioner.
Inthe fall semester 2019-2020, one academic group of33persons ofthe “Software Quality Control” specialty program was retrained. During the period ofSeptember16, 2019 —

December17, 2019, the trainees attended lectures and practical classes inthe following disciplines: “English”, “Operating systems”, “Fundamentals ofalgorithm building”, “Database organization”, “Building computer networks”, “Practical testing”, “Teamwork and effective interaction”, “Time management”, “Stress management and burnout prevention”, “Self-actualization inprofessional activity”, and “Business administration”.

October25, 2019— The Round Table “Professional, social and psychological adaptation and assistance inemployment ofservicepersons, war veterans and their families inUkraine: Prospects ofthe interaction ofthe «Ukraine-Norway» Project partnership network with state institutions atthe regional and national levels” was held atLviv Polytechnic. The purpose ofthe Round Table was tounite the efforts ofrepresentatives ofpublic authorities, local self-government, educators and practitioners ofthe social sphere and public associations ofwar veterans onthe way ofthe partnership network development atthe local, regional, national and international levels for positive social change.

November 25-26, 2019— Ms. Iryna Roddvik, PhD, University ofNord (Kingdom ofNorway) made aworking visit toLviv Polytechnic and delivered interactive lectures onthe topic “How tobesuccessful, given the current challenges?”. The Project participants considered the components ofamodern, successful, prosperous, and just country, learned how tocreate aperspective scenario for the Ukraine-2030development, and underwent some interesting testing. The Project participants also had anopportunity toexplore successful cases, types ofpersonal capital and examples oftheir combination, aswell astolearn about Machiavelli’s theory ofchanging elites and consider examples ofconducting negotiations.
