Development of Education and Science at the Department

The Department of Marketing and Logistics received its current name in 2003, but its origins date back to the Department of Industrial Economics and Production Organisation.
In 1964, a separate Department of Economics and Organisation of the Chemical Industry and Energy was established, which was renamed the Department of Economics of Energy and Chemical Enterprises and Marketing in 1996.

The department taught courses in the organisation and management of enterprises in the energy and chemical sectors.

The first cohort of engineers who specialised in economics, known as engineer-economists, graduated in 1968. Since then, the department has trained over 2,500 professionals.

In 1994, the department launched training programs for a new generation of economic specialists — marketers-in response to the growing needs of the market economy.
Reacting promptly to labour market trends in Ukraine, the department has been training specialists in the “Logistics” specialisation since 2000.

The department also contributes to the training of bachelors, specialists, and masters in technical fields within the institutes established in 2001 on the basis of former faculties:
the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (ICCT),
the Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems (IPECS),
the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL),
and the Institute of Postgraduate Education, all of which operate within the structure of the 91Ƶ.

Over the years, the department has been headed by: Prof. V. Borodkin, Doctor of Economics (1945–1974), Assoc. Prof. B. Babak, PhD (1975–1976), Prof. P. Bondariev, Doctor of Economics (1976–1991), Assoc. Prof. D. Atamanyuk, PhD (1991–1992).

Under his supervision, 57 dissertations were defended, including 13 doctoral theses.

Professor Krykavskyy is the author of 31 textbooks and teaching manuals approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as 32 monographs and over 500 scientific publications.
