Historical Development of Scientific Activity

Since 1982, the department has held the status of a base (reference) department for technical higher 91Ƶ of the Western region of Ukraine (HEIs of Volyn, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytskyi, Chernivtsi, and Lviv regions) on issues related to the economics of energy, chemical, and construction materials industries, as well as marketing (No. 1/11-2027). This status determined the department’s mission in disseminating teaching experience, providing professional development services, teaching specialised courses in regional HEIs, and conducting thematic seminars.

Throughout its existence, the department’s academic staff has been consistently and actively engaged in research. Three renowned professors, now deceased, made significant contributions to its development:

  • Prof. P.P. Bondariev, Doctor of Economics — specialist in production economics;
  • Prof. S.V. Dikmarov, Doctor of Economics — specialist in energy economics;
  • Prof. Yevhen Krykavskyy, Doctor of Economics (Head of the Department from 1992 to 2024) — specialist in logistics and marketing, author of 31 textbooks and teaching manuals, 32 monographs, and over 500 scientific publications. Under his supervision, 13 doctoral and 44 candidate dissertations were defended. He was also an Academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine.

Since the early years of Ukraine’s independence, the department has formed a team of researchers focusing on marketing issues, and since the late 1990s, on logistics problems.
