On 11 December, during the 34th session of the General Assembly of the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), Mariana Kaplinska, Associate Professor from the Department of Architecture and Conservation, the Institute of Architecture and Design, Lviv Polytechnic, was elected a member of its Council.
The election took place by secret ballot, in accordance with the ICCROM Statute. Members of the Council are elected by the General Assembly for a term of 4 years from among highly qualified specialists in the field of preservation and restoration of cultural heritage, taking into account professional experience, international expertise and representation of different cultural regions.
In accordance with the established procedure, Mariana Kaplinska was nominated by the National Committee of ICCROM in Ukraine. The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine provided her official nomination as a delegate of Ukraine and a candidate for the elections to the ICCROM Council.
The preparation and support of the participation of the Ukrainian side in the electoral process were carried out with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the constant support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Italian Republic, which facilitated proper coordination and interaction with the ICCROM Secretariat. An important role in this process was also played by the professional solidarity of colleagues and the involvement of 91Ƶ.
Mariana Kaplinska is a Candidate of Architecture, a specialist in architectural conservation and preservation of cultural heritage, Associate Professor at the Department of Architecture and Conservation, the Institute of Architecture and Design, 91Ƶ. Her professional activities combine scientific, educational and practical work in the field of preservation of immovable cultural heritage, as well as participation in international programs and projects in cooperation with ICCROM, ICOMOS, UNESCO and other international organizations.
As part of the ICCROM Council, Mariana Kaplinska will participate in determining the strategic directions of the organization’s activities aimed at developing international cooperation, strengthening professional capabilities and supporting sustainable approaches to the preservation of cultural heritage in the world.
