A delegation from 91Ƶ, led by Rector Nataliia Shakhovska, participated in the EU-Indo-Pacific Digital Partnership Conference 2025, which officially opened at Shaw Foundation 91Ƶ House, National University of Singapore. The event brought together leading researchers, innovators, and industry leaders from Europe and the Indo-Pacific region to discuss the development of digital technologies and their implementation in the market.
The delegation included Nazarii Podolchak, Head of the Department of Administrative and Financial Management, Deputy Director for Scientific Work, the Institute of Public Administration, Governance and Professional Development, Scientific Director of the Tech StartUp School Business Innovation Center and Director of the SID CITY Science Park; and Yaroslav Hnilitsky, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Physics and Nanomaterials Science, the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences.
The conference opened with a discussion on «Innovation Convergence Lab: Where Technological Impulse Meets Market Demand», which brought together scientists, innovators, and industry leaders to exchange experiences and foster cooperation. The participants explored ways to align technological innovation with market needs and learned about opportunities for collaboration within EU research initiatives.
The second session of the conference, dedicated to joint projects, focused on practical cooperation and opportunities for implementing innovation initiatives aimed at addressing global challenges: from applying artificial intelligence for sustainable cities to developing resilient digital infrastructure.
The second day of the conference continued with a series of parallel sessions that further deepened the dialogue between European and Indo-Pacific experts in the fields of artificial intelligence, education, digital infrastructure, and innovation policy. Discussions also addressed AI security, competitiveness, and its regional impact.
During the session «Reviewing Priorities: EUSDP as a Regional Multiplier», participants focused on the role of the EU Digital Partnership within the framework of the new EU International Digital Strategy.
Particular attention was drawn to the session «AI in Education», which explored the transformation of research and education systems through the use of artificial intelligence. Nataliia Shakhovska, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, delivered a presentation on this topic.
Equally significant were the sessions dedicated to semiconductors and digital infrastructure security, where participants discussed gas sensors for IoT, wafer-scale photonics, and advanced integration methods. Special attention was given to security challenges arising from the convergence of cloud, edge, and IoT technologies. Yaroslav Hnilitsky, Lviv Polytechnic, delivered a speech on this topic.
While in Singapore, the Lviv Polytechnic delegation held a meeting with Kateryna Zelenko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Singapore. During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation with Singaporean universities and companies, opportunities for attracting grants for Ukrainian researchers, as well as prospects for developing double degree programs and joint scientific projects. The Ambassador highlighted the need to strengthen academic cooperation and promote Ukrainian scientists’ involvement in international programs, and the Lviv Polytechnic delegation showcased its innovative projects and experience in global digital initiatives.
